Newsboy fancies his nap, Double Digit, to win at Carlisle and also hopes Imperial Jade can score on the same card and complete his Daily Double
DOUBLE DIGIT (2.20, NAP) looks sure to figure highly in the opening race at Carlisle on Tuesday. The seven-year-old former Irish point-to-point winner, trained by Ann Hamilton, was only narrowly beaten at Newcastle last time out. Always going well in the 2m1f novice hurdle, the son of Mastercraftsman strongly pressed the leader Matwana but was denied by a nose. Matwana had previously been placed at Listed level and my selection will face nothing of that calibre in the Class 4 racingtv.com Maiden Hurdle under regular rider Danny McMenamin.
In addition, Small Town Kid, who was 18 lengths back in third, franked the form by winning a novice hurdle at Newcastle on Saturday.
Later on the card, IMPERIAL JADE (3.50, NB) is fancied to complete a hat-trick of victories when she takes on five opponents in the Lazonby Handicap Hurdle over 2m3f.
The daughter of Harzand was well supported last time into 10-11 when making all over 2m4f at Huntingdon. Although she was strongly challenged late on by Our Pink Lady, the Charlie Longsdon-trained mare kept on gamely to hold on by a head. Previously to that, she comfortably won a handicap hurdle at Doncaster over 2m3f by 13 lengths.
