Fans claim Tyson Fury has been hit by ‘karma’ as resurfaced clip of Gypsy King sending disrespectful five-word message to Oleksandr Usyk goes viral

  • Tyson Fury suffered his second straight defeat by Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday
  • The Gypsy King previously said he was not interested in fighting the Ukrainian
  • He slammed rival as a ‘small cruiserweight’ who was not ‘setting anything alight’

An old clip of Tyson Fury sending a brutal putdown to Oleksandr Usyk has gone viral after his defeat on Saturday, leading fans to claim he was hit by ‘karma’.

Fury lost 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecards after an enthralling showdown in Saudi Arabia, leaving his dream of stripping his Ukrainian rival of his WBA, WBC and WBO titles and avenging his only career setback in tatters.

The Gypsy King stormed out of the ring after being shown the scorecards and insisted he had won the fight by ‘at least three rounds’, while his promoter Frank Warren said he was ‘dumbfounded’ by the result and wide margin of victory.

However, unimpressed social media users were quick to pile the misery on Fury after a past video of his scathing message to Usyk resurfaced.

During an interview, Fury controversially criticised ‘foreigner’ Usyk’s English and insisted the heavyweight champion of the world should be from the UK or the USA.

‘He’s a small cruiserweight,’ said Fury. ‘A foreigner, don’t speak good English and nobody’s really interested. Anyway, he’s not setting anything alight.

‘I want the big fights that people are interested in. And that ain’t one of them. It still wouldn’t be a big fight. He’s still a foreigner in a westernised world.

‘The belts are back in the west and they’re going to stay there. Whatever it sounds like, the heavyweight champion should be from Britain or America, nowhere else.

‘Because maybe in Ukraine he might be a big star but Britain or America aren’t interested in some Ukrainian, and that’s the way it is.

‘The heavyweight champion of the world needs to be in the west. That’s how it goes.’

In response to the video, one X user simply said: ‘Karma is a great thing.’

Another wrote: ‘Loved that Usyk humbled his big mouth so bad.’

‘He thought it was any [sic] easy fight after Dubois and now he’s lost everything,’ another user said, accompanied by a crying laughing emoji.

A fourth posted: ‘This ended well.’

A fifth wrote: ‘After watching this I’m glad he got cooked.’

Sharing his disbelief post-fight, Fury said: ‘I thought I won that fight. I thought I won both fights but I’m going home with two losses on my record.

‘There’s not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out.

‘I will believe until the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing to the body and head.

‘Frank Warren had me three or four rounds up. A lot of people had me at least two rounds up. But I’m not going to cry over spilled milk. I can’t change the decision.

‘When you don’t get the KO this is what happens, you can’t guarantee a win.’
