Darren Till reveals the REAL reason he believes Tommy Fury pulled out of their fight

Darren Till thinks Tommy Fury cancelled their fight because he'd heard how well Till had been sparring

  • Tommy Fury pulled out of his fight with Darren Till earlier this month
  • He claimed he was concerned Till was not going to adhere to boxing rules
  • Till has a different theory on why Fury decided to cancel the fight

Darren Till has provided a theory on why Tommy Fury cancelled their fight earlier this month.

The pair announced that they were going to headline a Misfits Boxing show last month, with the fight slated for January 18 in Manchester.

However, after former UFC title challenger Till threatened to kick Fury in the head at their launch press conference, Fury announced that he was withdrawing from the fight as he was concerned his opponent was not going to play by the rules.

Till is not buying Fury’s reason, though, and has come up with an alternative view of his own.

‘I just believe that he’s heard rumours of how I’m getting on in the gym in terms of sparring and stuff like that,’ Till said on The Ariel Helwani Show.

‘We’ve had a lot of high-profile professionals come in and I’ve been sparring great with these guys. Really impressive, even for a lot of pro boxers in the gym, they’re like: “Wow, you’re really impressive, man. You hit hard, you look good”.

‘We just think that he’s heard rumours and thought this is not going to be an easy night.  Because you can’t be pulling out with that excuse that he gave, it’s a terrible excuse.’

Ex-Love Island star Fury, who is the younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson, announced the fight was off on December 6.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

‘I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date.

‘I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.’

This came just days after a chaotic press conference that was brought to an abrupt end after Fury’s dad, John, threw a glass of water at Till.

Till responded by leaking John’s phone number on social media.

Fury has since called for a rematch with Jake Paul after narrowly beating the YouTube sensation in their first fight in February 2023.

His dad has also challenged Jake’s brother Logan Paul to a fight, but both offers have been knocked back.

Fury and Till are both currently without opponents a little over a month out from when they were due to face each other.
