Trevoh Chalobah remains an option for Crystal Palace even though the Eagles have agreed a £17.5m fee with Wolfsburg for Maxence Lacroix.
Palace sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham last week, while uncertainty remains over Marc Guehi‘s future, with Newcastle still showing interest in getting a deal over the line.
Lacroix is expected to add some much-needed cover at the back, but Palace may need one more defender before Friday’s deadline, especially if Guehi departs.
Chalobah is one of the names being considered after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.
The 25-year-old is part of Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’ and is currently training away from the first team.
Crystal Palace are still showing interest in signing Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah
This is despite already agreeing a fee for another defender – Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix
Palace are also set to complete the signing of Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah today
Maresca reiterated on Wednesday that Chalobah, along with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, will not get any minutes this season if they stay at Chelsea beyond Friday.
Meanwhile, Palace are set to complete the signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal today.
The Gunners forward turned down a move to Nottingham Forest, and is now on the verge of moving to Selhurst Park for £25m plus £5m in add-ons.
His arrival will coincide with the temporary exit of Odsonne Edouard.
Palace are expected to take up the option of extending Edouard’s contract before allowing him to join Ipswich Town on loan.
